Our Staff...

All our staff work hard to create a convivial atmosphere: we firmly believe that a united and happy team benefits not just the staff members themselves but also enhances the atmosphere for the residents.


This intangible quality undoubtably adds to a sense of 'home from home'  for the residents which is invaluable and difficult to quantify.


Our staff are regularly appraised and there is a core belief in promoting, training and encouraging staff to progress. As a result of this, the Care Home has received 'The Investors in People Award' for training and education.



Our team is overseen by Susan Hanson, the independent director who has over 30 years experience working in the care sector and is a qualified Regiestered Manager.  She says:


'Throughout my journey within the care sector I have gained skills and completed various courses. Taking care of elderly people (service user) is very rewarding, and along with Bernadette Johnson, the Registered Manager and our team who work brilliantly together. We have created a warm and welcoming home for the resident to enjoy, with home comforts, excellent standard of food, support of local doctors and community nurses.'


Susan has the following qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 4 in Care

  • Level 4 Registered Managers Award

  • NVQ Level 3 in Promoting Independence

  • NVQ Level 3 in Continuing Care




Bernadette Johnston is our registered manager who has many years of experience in care including managing a team of over 70 staff in community care.  

Bernadette has the following qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care

  • NVQ Level 4 in Leadership and Management for Care

Senior Carers

We have a dedicated team of senior carers, who help the manager's guide and supervise the care team. The senior staff also help to supervise the key worker system, to promote personalised care for all residents. One of the senior care staff also carry out the duties of the medication manager.




All our carers are dedicated to the care of the residents and act as key workers to a resident. The carers also help with the activities programme.




We have two chefs who prepare, cook and serve food to a high standard. All dietary requirements are catered for by our dedicated catering team.




Domestic staff, a maintenance person and kitchen assistants also help make Bryn Eithin a warm and friendly home for all residents.
